Good Morning. This is Monday, April 23rd and this is your Monday Media Message. I'm doing a voice-only recording because I don't feel well today and I will not be coming to Seaside or Salinas. However I do hope to be in Santa Cruz tomorrow and San Jose and Mountain View on Wednesday and Thursday.
Friday will be an editing day when I focus on editing the footage that we've been collecting of various events. And in the afternoon at 2:30 we'll be doing the "It's a WRAP!" meeting for the staff. Feel free to join if you're available. There's also a point person at most sites who hopefully can join online. I'll be putting the link to that on the media calendar for the meeting. And the Wrap from the It's a WRAP!! from last month is also on the website in the It's a WRAP!! area.
Last week we talked about symmetry in photography. We talked about two sides of the image being similar and balanced and looking the same and creating something called symmetry. This week if you're out taking photos I'd like you to try and experiment with the zoom in your cameras.
The zoom in your cameras has optical and digital version in all cameras that have a lens you can zoom in using the lens. That part is the optical zoom. It's the physical ability of the lens in your camera to look at things that are far away and act like binoculars. Digital zoom is only available in digital cameras and it's a little bit of trick. You think that digital zoom makes your camera more powerful but really it's just zooming in on the image the way you would in a computer so it's manipulating the computer file and that's not really so impressive.
So when your out in the community with your cameras this week, maybe try playing around with your zoom settings. And if you have the DSLR experiment with putting the longer lens on and see what that does. Play with that and see what happens.
The big news for this week is that three of the commercials for the Hope Thrift have been turned in and that contest ends on the end of this week, Friday. So turn in your commercials. I'll put them up on the website next week. We'll vote on them for about two weeks and the winner gets a pizza party. Hope those of you who are still working on yours are having fun with it. Have a good time with it. That's the important part. And even if you don't get finished to a perfect product at the end go ahead and send it in and we'll put it up anyway. So don't feel pressed and stressed to get it finished finished finished perfect. Just get something done and turn it in and we'll include it in the evaluation. Thank you to everyone who participated in that. I really look forward to the results.
Hope you have a very good week and I'll see you at your sites.
Digital Asset Specialists I will be uploading an additional piece of information about inventory for this last week of your month doing inventory. Next month I'll be making appointments and coming to work with you 1 one 1 in the lab learning how to copy files and help with the digital asset management piece.
So that's all for this Monday. Go out take great photos and film and have a good time. I'll see you soon. Thank you.
